About operaman

Name

Stephen Llewellyn

Bio

Stephen Llewellyn worked with Portland Opera for nearly four years and still produces this blog on a weekly basis. You may see him manning the Portland Opera table at the Metropolitan Opera High Definition transmissions where he enjoys chatting with like-minded Saturday morning opera fans. Do stop by and say 'hello'. He has been a barrister in Hong Kong, a professional folk singer and classically-trained tenor. He makes a mean zabaglione, and cries easily and frequently at opera performances.

Happy Chrikwanzhannuka!

I have been overtaken by events and, as you will have seen from our home page, Portland Opera is relocating to the Bahamas for Christmas week so the whole staff can drink cocktails with umbrellas in them and dance naked on the sand in the moonlight. Therefor there will be no Operaman on Monday 21st December.

Okay, the first part of that was a lie but the Opera is indeed closed for business Christmas week (but will happily continue to accept your donations, of course!), so you are going to have to wait for one more week to find out all of the new and exciting gossip Operaman has for you. Come back on December 28th okay?

In the meantime, I bring you this. Just 'cos.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday period. Most of all I wish that you much happiness.

That was a magnificent video.

That was a magnificent video. I smiled all the way through.
Hmmm, why doesn't Portland Opera make a surprise stop in, say, Trader Joes one day? Wouldn't that be thrilling?

Wasn't that fun? I like your Trader Joe's idea. Actually, the more I think about it the more I like it. Let me mull it over and run it by those who could make it happen. Thank you 'Visitor'. :)
