    This season, Mr. Mattaliano's series will tie in with the Met opera that follows it,
    providing listeners with an interesting and deeper background into aspects
    related to the opera broadcast.

    During the 19th century, the "Exotic East" was a seductive setting for operas, artists and writers and a source of inspiration for many works of artistic genius--but did the Orientalist movement harm the diverse cultures and peoples lumped together in the "Orient"?  If Aida is an orientalist opera, does it matter?  Join us as we explore Exoticism in the Arts the final expedition in our 2007/08 Destination Opera Series.
