Cenerentola has gone by many names — Cendrillion, Ashcheputtel, Angelina — but you might know her best as Cinderella. Cinderella’s stepfather is a buffoon and her sisters are cruel but one day her life changes. The prince throws a Royal Ball to meet his future wife, and though her family conspires to keep her from meeting him, Cinderella must fulfill her destiny.

General Director Christopher Mattaliano reimagines this popular opera for the intimate Newmark stage. Making his Portland Opera debut as Prince Ramiro is Australian tenor Alasdair Kent. Kent has had great success in vocal competitions around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Paris Opera Competition, among others. Also highlighting the cast is Edoardo Chama as the buffoonish stepfather, Don Magnifico. Chama was last seen on the Portland Opera stage as the title character in Falstaff in 2013.

Sung in Italian with projected English translations.
