Normal Hours: 
Typical hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (37.5 hours per week) Duties require some evening and weekend hours for Opera performances and Patron-related events

Portland Opera offers productions of the highest artistic quality, bringing the world of opera to the region. Over the past 52 years, the company has presented more than 200 operas, including world premieres, and is renowned for its outreach and educational initiatives, including Portland Opera-To-Go, and our Resident Artists Program, which supports the next generation of professional opera singers.

As we prepare to enter our 2018 season, Portland Opera is experiencing dynamic growth and exciting organizational changes. We recognize that our patrons are much more than groups of donors or ticket buyers, and we value them as opera and musical theatre lovers who engage and participate with us in a variety of ways.

For that reason, we are seeking a Group and Corporate sales and account management star, with a reputation for providing excellent customer service, to become our Patron Services Representative for Group and Corporate Sales.

JOB SUMMARY

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of the Patron Service Representative is to engage with our patrons to establish relationships that enhance their experiences and build stronger loyalty to Portland Opera, while meeting sales and subscriber retention goals and developing new and existing in-kind partnerships.

As part of the newly created External Affairs division at Portland Opera, the Patron Services Representative / Corporate & Group Sales will be assigned a portfolio of Opera patrons, with primary emphasis on group and corporate sales and in-kind partnerships, and empowered to provide them with exceptional concierge-style service in order to build relationships and broaden our presence within the community.

In this role, you will work directly with the Patron Services Manager to set and meet annual group and corporate sales and subscriber retention goals, develop and execute a detailed plan for contacting portfolio patrons, and assume responsibilities as needed for defined group sales campaigns.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

High quality sales and customer service experience, professional demeanor, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a positive, collaborative team approach to work are essential.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management software is required.

The ideal candidate will also have experience with group and corporate sales and/or in-kind partnerships, prior Box Office and/or telemarketing experience and a working knowledge of Ticketmaster or other integrated fundraising/ticketing system.
