2018 Resident Artist Program

Portland Opera established the Resident Artist Program in 2005, providing a bridge from the conservatory world to the professional stage for talented young singers who join the company for a rigorous residency and training program. Each resident artist appears in featured roles in mainstage productions and gives an art song recital at the Portland Art Museum during the season. As a group, they perform at many season previews, previews of individual productions, and other community-based concerts.

Mezzo-soprano Kate Farrar returns to the program for the 2018 season, while we welcome three new Resident Artists—soprano Helen Huang, tenor Thomas Cilluffo, and bass Shi Li. Nicholas Fox, Portland Opera Chorus Master & Assistant Conductor, is the pianist for the recital series.
