En mis palabras is a bilingual production which tells the story of a first-generation Mexican American girl caught between her traditional father and her older brother, who has fully embraced American culture. It asks essential questions like how can I be both Mexican and American; What do we owe the past? How do we hold the past and the present together?

About Portland Opera to Go
Portland Opera To Go is Portland Opera’s flagship education program, touring schools and communities throughout Oregon and SW Washington with 50 minute, fully-staged productions of operas. Our goal is to make opera accessible, comprehensible and fun for audiences of all ages and experiences!
In addition to performing up to two shows per day, POGO singers are responsible for unloading, setting up and re-loading the set. In most schools POGO singers also conduction classroom visits prior to the show. Portland Opera To Go performs in the Portland Metro Area, but also tours out of town for a week at a time. While out of the Portland Metro Area, transportation and housing will be provided by Portland Opera. A meal reimbursement of $55 per day is provided when a the cast is more than 150 miles from Portland.
The contract starts on September 7, 2021 and runs through November 6, 2021, inclusive, with the option to add a week of tour, depending upon demand, November 7 through November 15, inclusive. The fee is $525 per week, with a $1000 housing allowance and $500 travel stipend, both payable upon presentation of receipts.
