Describe your role with Portland Opera

I’ve sung with the Portland Opera Chorus for almost 12 years

What music/book/movie/show/poem/place/moment is currently inspiring you?

The Psalms are my current go-to. I find space here to feel joy, or sadness, or fear while remaining in hope.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Someone who helped people or animals heal. Sometimes a doctor. Sometimes a veterinarian.

In my free time, you can usually find me...

Up to something silly with my two boys. Or enjoying Portland’s exceptional food scene with my husband.

What has your favorite quarantine activity been?

I started noticing how “loved” my furniture looked at the hands of two children, so I grabbed a sander and started refinishing that furniture. Thank you, YouTube!

What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?

I struggle to single one out. It’s more of a collective memory that I hold. It’s the memory of standing in the wings; of light dancing with music as time suspends for just a moment. There are few places like it — that in-between moment — that moment between preparation and the embodiment of all the hard work you put into that preparation.
