Describe your role with Portland Opera
I am a tenor on the Regular Roster at Portland Opera and I am new to the organization.
What music/book/movie/show/poem/place/moment is currently inspiring you?
Bali, Indonesia inspires peace, tranquillity and acceptance within me. Seeing Balinese towers inspires me to remain calm and grow divinely regardless of life’s adversities.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a lawyer, a doctor, a musician, and a forensic scientist. So far one of those came true. Thankfully, I wasn’t a forensic scientist!
In my free time, you can usually find me...
Playing baroque, classical or romantic piano music and practicing repertoire. Sometimes I may serenade a lucky contender.
What has your favorite quarantine activity been?
Cooking! I absolutely love to cook and create new dishes or replicate dishes takeout. It is therapeutic and has become a tasty challenge. I can make a mean Mongolian beef with Stir-fried noodles. Southern, Italian, French, and Asian cuisine are my favorites.
What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?
My first and last memory so far was flying in to audition and feeling appreciated, even though I am new. Being from Phoenix, AZ I look forward to many more memories with Portland Opera.
