What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?
I coordinated a group that attended a performance of our Man of La Mancha in 2017 that was comprised of a family spread all across Oregon and Washington. I was able to meet some of them prior to the performance and they explained to me the significance that the 1972 film adaptation had in their family – it was a tradition they had watched together for years and, since the passing of some of their elder relatives, our production was the first occasion to revisit it. It was a really sentimental moment and a reminder of the transcendent power the arts can have in our lives even outside the theater.
