Madama Butterfly: Child Role Auditions

ROLE TO BE CAST

Butterfly’s Child, “Dolore” – non singing role.  Dolore is three years old and of mixed Japanese and Mexican descent.   Older children who are small of stature are strongly encouraged to audition, as well as children of other ethnicities.  (Please see Diversity and Inclusion)

TO SCHEDULE AN AUDITION

Auditions are by appointment only.  Please send an email with full body photo to auditions@portlandopera.org.  You will be notified by August 26 if you have been granted an audition.

REQUIREMENTS

During the audition, the children will be asked to move and follow directions.  They will also experience operatic voices at full volume to test their reaction to this experience.  Children should wear clothing and shoes that they can be comfortable moving in.

REHEARSAL and PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

Staging begins October 5, 2019
Performances are October 25, 27, 31 and November 2, 2019
All rehearsals through October 17 will take place afternoons/early evenings
All rehearsals and performances October 18 through November 2 will be late evenings, with the exception of the October 27 matinee.

Please note:  AGMA contracts will be issued for this engagement.  For more details, please contact AGMA@Musicalartists.org.  Portland Opera is considering local Portland actors only at this time.
