WATCH: An Evening with Portland Opera

Hosted by Sue Dixon, General Director
Conducted by George Manahan, Music Director

Portland Opera (along with many other arts, cultural and heritage organizations) has faced heartbreaking challenges because of cancellations and postponements due to the pandemic. Rather than stay silent, we activated our ensemble at a distance—in houses, apartments, studio settings, and more—to produce this loving mosaic of a concert. We hope you make your home an opera house, and let this beautiful music uplift your spirits during this challenging time, as it has ours!

This event is free, was recorded and produced safely, and was made with love, for you, in the Rose City.

All donations received in honor of this event will support Portland Opera’s path toward a bright future. You can make a gift here.

The concert will be broadcast on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 7:30 PM, available for free on our Portland Opera Vimeo and YouTube channels. It is only available online, and there is no need to RSVP or register.

Performed in numerous languages with English captions.
Approximately 60 minutes, without an intermission.

Immediately following the concert, join us for a conversation with some company members and artists from Portland Opera. We’ll have a chance to discuss the process of making of An Evening with Portland Opera and more! This event is free. No need to RSVP.

Laura Hassell, Producing Director, Portland Opera
Kristine McIntyre, Director
Nicholas Fox, Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor
Daniel Mobbs, soloist, bass-baritone
Hilary Oseas, orchestra principal violist
Gregory Brumfield, chorus, baritone
