Describe what you do for Portland Opera

I steward the organization through a kaleidoscope, always focusing on financial, artistic, equity and the value we bring to our community.  I’m humbled to be the first women to lead this organization, and am grateful for the leadership of our Board of Directors, and an incredible staff and senior leadership team.

What music/book/movie/show/poem/place/moment is currently inspiring you?

Ted Lasso!  I kept hearing about this show and resisted.  Once I watched the first two episodes, I was hooked!  It’s a very sweet show where the main character Ted is so adorably positive!  I love it!

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Artist, I loved painting and thought I would do it professionally.

In my free time, you can usually find me...

Gardening, hiking, painting, and I love reading!

Do you have hike/park/scenic view in Oregon that inspires you?

Growing up close to the beach, the ocean is my place of solace.  I love hiking along the coastline of Manzanita, especially Neahkahnie Mountain, Cape Falcon and Angora Peak.

What's your favorite season in Portland/why?

Autumn! I love the crispness in the air, the Portland Book Festival, the emergence of the art and culture scene, and sweaters!

What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?

Celebrating our 50th anniversary season and hosting a fundraising gala. It was a magical moment for me, as it was the company's first gala in over 17 years, and to have civic, community, and philanthropic leaders celebrate with us was truly unforgettable. We had aerial performers from the 3rd floor balcony of the Hampton Opera Center cascading down among our guests, pedicabs carries our guests from the OMSI parking lot to a tented seating area—and we danced under the stars to Thomas Lauderdale, China Forbes, and DJ Gregarious!  It was one of those iconic Portland evenings on a warm summer solstice night, and greatly impacted the success of our company.
