Have you been a volunteer, served on a board of directors, or contributed to other community organizations that you’re passionate about? If so, please share it here.
I am a web-developer for Trimet and have contributed extensively to the trip-planning application at trimet.org in the past year. I am proud to be helping people make their way around my hometown!
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
At first, I wanted to be Spider-Man. Though I can do one-armed pushups and the splits, I haven't gotten to doing any flips yet; plus it's a full dance-card these days. So, I guess I'd say an actor, which I've managed to accomplish on and off the operatic stage!
In my free time, you can usually find me...
Learning music, lifting weights, playing video-games, doing self-tapes for acting, watching football/soccer, snuggling my cat, or walking my dogs!
What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?
Watching my good buddy, Ryan Thorn, absolutely crush it as Dandini in the company's most recent production of La Cenerentola!
Do you have hike/park/scenic view in Oregon that inspires you?
Mount Tabor is majestic and definitely worth seeing.
What's your favorite season in Portland/why?
Early summer, because everyone is used to the allergens ((hopefully)) and the heat hasn't gotten too bad yet, plus there are all kinds of markets and events going on in the city!
Do you have a favorite local visual artist/musician/filmmaker/performer that you think everyone should know about?
Andrea Rosales! She's a brilliant artist and has been an inspiration to me with how hard she works at her craft in comic-book creation and the inroads she has made with DC Comics over the past few years. She makes excellent posters for operas and recitals too! http://www.andrearosales.com/
What's your favorite bike path/greenway/route in Portland?
I used to love running the trail by the Trimet Merlo Station on the west-side. There's a great loop in there called Ponderosa Loop, which is awesome for running.
What is the most interesting/unusual job you've ever had?
I was a party clown in SoCal for a year. I learned to make party-balloons, face-paints, and endured hours of wearing heavy knock-off mascot-costumes that smelled like rancid cake. I've also been an Uber Driver, fishmonger, alcohol delivery guy, tax preparer, and a vegetable mandolin salesman/demonstrator in grocery stores.
