Describe what you do for Portland Opera?

I provide support for the External Affairs team, promoting Portland Opera performances and activities across media and assisting with the box office when needed.

Have you been a volunteer, served on a board of directors, or contributed to other community organizations that you’re passionate about? If so, please share it here.

I love to sing the praises of the BRAVO Community Orchestra, where I've been playing cello since 2018. This orchestra brings together student and adult musicians to rehearse in north Portland every Friday. We've had some great performing opportunities, playing for Jamie Bernstein at the Oregon Jewish Museum and helping celebrate the opening of the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.

In my free time, you can usually find me...

Communing with wildlife at my house in the trees, researching new recipes to use up an overabundance of seasonal fruits and veggies, or taking myself on unofficial garden tours while listening to audiobooks.

What's your favorite season in Portland/why?

It's hard to choose, but I'd have to say spring. I love seeing and smelling all the flowers everywhere.

What's your favorite bike path/greenway/route in Portland?

I highly recommend exploring the Crystal Springs Creek area, including Reed Canyon, and taking the walking tour. There's also accessibility for wheelchairs. A wealth of native wildlife (salmon!) and plants live in and along this waterway, which is rare for an urban stream. Members of the community have collaborated to restore and enhance this habitat, making it an example of what great work can be done when people get involved in their neighborhoods.
