Describe your role with Portland Opera
I joined the Portland Opera Board in 2020 just as the world was dramatically changing, but have been a regular audience member or season ticket holder since 2010. My board assignments include the Community Engagement Working Group and Cultural Equity Planning Committee. I also serve on Portland Opera's Ambassador Board, which I joined in 2017, and love the energy we are building with the next generation of opera patrons.
How did you get involved with the opera?
I grew up in a household with a passion for the performing arts, but it took me nearly 7 years of living in my new city to find my way to Portland Opera. I joined friends for a Saturday matinee performance of Hansel and Gretel in 2010, and was hooked.
What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?
I love the holiday sing-along and have brought my mother for several years. This year, thanks to us all being at home, I was able to share the magic with my infant son!
What would you like our audience to know?
There are many reasons to love the opera- from beautiful music to timeless stories and grand performances- but the opera community is united in our love for Portland. Artists, staff, and audience members take great care to expand horizons and lift spirits in every corner of our city through workshops and performances outside the traditional venues.
