Describe your role with Portland Opera
I have been a board member for the past 5 or 6 years, joining right as we entered the pandemic. It has been a remarkable time to work to find ways to gather that celebrate our community.
How did you get involved with the opera?
I attended my first Portland Opera performance in the 2010-2011 season, and every season am absolutely thrilled to see new works and lesser-known performances on the schedule to broaden my horizons.
What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?
A few favorite memories-- I loved bringing my young son to his first opera, The Snowy Day. Additionally, I loved bringing my mom with me to the outdoor performance of Frida, our first show back in the pandemic. I have seen Opera a la Cart at at least 5 places around town; my favorite memory was from the performance outside the Oregon City library. Finally, Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel and Anthony Davis' Central Park Five both had incredible stagings that stay with me years later.
