I served on the board of the Cascade Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing for 7 years, as Auditions co-chair, President-Elect, President, and Past President.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to run our family's cattle ranch together with my sister.

In my free time, you can usually find me...

Hiking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, or playing volleyball.

What is your favorite Portland Opera memory?

I have so many! Highlights include the gorgeous costumes in Orfeo and Carmen, the highly physical ensemble work in The Man of La Mancha, and the fight choreography in Carmen.

What's your favorite Portland coffee shop, brewery, cidery, or winery?

I love Water Avenue!

Do you have hike/park/scenic view in Oregon that inspires you?

McNeil Point on Mt. Hood is one of my favorites.

What's your favorite season in Portland/why?

Spring! We have so many spring blooms, for so long. It's such a hopeful season.

Do you have a favorite local visual artist/musician/filmmaker/performer that you think everyone should know about?

My student, Kassi Valazza, actually just moved to New Orleans from Portland, but she is an exciting singer-songwriter.

What is the most interesting/unusual job you've ever had?

Riding pens/working cows on our family's Western Idaho feedlot and Eastern Oregon ranch, lifeguarding at summer camps in central Oregon and the Oregon coast, or double-digging organic garden beds by hand.
